The 4th Fest of Greater Racine is 100% volunteer operated from the board of directors to day-of-the-parade needs.

Banner Carrier

A banner carrier is responsible for holding & walking with a banner in front of a float for the entire parade route.

Perfect for younger individuals, A few friends, or a family.

Example of the Duties Required:

  • Ability to walk over 2 miles in warm weather.
  • Ability to carry a light weight banner.
  • Desire to have a bit of fun!

Balloon Handler

A balloon handler is responsible for ensuring the helium balloons make it down the parade route safely. (Not guaranteed to be available every year.)

Perfect for someone with a bit of strength. (may have an age requirement.)

Example of the Duties Required:

  • Ability to walk over 2 miles in warm weather.
  • Ability to safely coordinate moving a large helium filled balloon as part of a team. 
  • Avoid all hazards including low hanging utility wires and road imperfections.
  • Desire to have a bit of fun!

Parade Staff or Marshal

Parade staff ensure the proper pacing of the parade and support the safety of participants and spectators.

perfect for someone willing to make decisions 18 years of age or older.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist parade entries in finding their proper line-up position within the staging area.
  • Monitor parade entries to ensure safety and compliance with 4th Fest rules and regulations.
  • Ensure parade flow continues forward.
  • Ensure spectators stay out of the street.
  • Be courteous and polite and willing to make decisions as needed.
  • Have a little fun!

Staging Volunteer

staging volunteers assist in the operation of the 4th of July Parade supporting the safety of participants and spectators.

perfect for a first time volunteer 18 years of age or older.

 Specific Responsibilities:

  • Set up barricades at the end of the assigned street(s) in the staging area.
  • Check in parade entries assigned to street.
  • Pick-up staging signs and any trash along the street. 
  • Be courteous and polite and willing to instruct people where to go.
  • Have a little fun!
